19-8-01 | Wow! .. thanks for bringing us these images. I, for one, find it inspirational to see the single line designs coming from other parts of the world. It's time for me to get to work and do something different! Ken McN. |

Oliver / germany. Newsgroup: de.rec.drachen |
17-07-01 | Thanks for the
great pictures, and we'll wait for even more. Hope all is well and thank
you for being a kite ambassador for the
world. scott s. / usa. |
17-07-01 | Thanks for the
great pictures, looks like you had a great time, what were the winds like?
... I spent over 3 years in Egypt in the 40's. Wish I was into kites at
that time. ... I know Tom it is a dirty Job "but some one has to do it"
Right". ... Thanks again Tom for the great pic's you take a mean photo
"Good Stuff mate". I hope to catch up with you real soon some where in
this great kite planet of ours.
Warmest regards. Ray, usa. |

Thanks for the fresh pictures from Beirut. It took
me back to the battlefields of the Golan Heights kite festival with
kites surrounded by tank runs....the guns pointed at the kites for target
practice. Make kites...not war. |

a hebron.

some words about 2001 lebanon festival organisation and the sponsors... first, a big thank to the organisation. they realised much more than we had expected by the stucture which we recognised in the 10 years-after-war lebanon. and respect to the ministry of culture. not that they organised the helicopter, because it for sure was also their own interest, but for the clearance of the customs. by the way, just a nice story too: arriving at the beirut airport customs - the organiser had told us before, that we MIGHT come in without paying visa, but not for sure, because it is the 'southern, mediterranian and arabic way' - and so, the officer was not interested in listening about free visa things. so, when my tired eyes strolled around while waiting, when the customs-officer double- and triple-checked all my stamps in the passport, i suddenly stuck visual to a piece of paper on the desk. the only one with latin letters. and the letters formed words - which were OUR NAMES! i took me some seconds to get clear and understand, then i (speaking very poor and bad arabic..) waved arms (aeh, mean: hands), pointed here and there in straight chaos, called the other kiters whose had no name-list at their desk to our desk, until more officers came and started discussion (of course in arabic) - until we could enter lebanon without paying the visa taxes! yep. what a good example for a well organised kite-show-festival! and, thanks to all sponsors, even if we do not
